BMOC Academy

The PLI BMOC Academy is a locally, grassroots-focused initiative designed to provide Boys and Men of Color practitioners with experiences, skills, and information that will strengthen their ability to improve their outcomes. Practitioners served through the BMOC Academy are provided with invaluable opportunities to access information on best practices, tools, and strategies for program success; connect with like-minded individuals and trailblazers in their field through a structured peer-learning community; and build organizational strength through hands-on mentorship and coaching provided by a team of seasoned practitioners.

The PLI BMOC Academy seeks to provide leadership development training through an eight-month program, designed for human service practitioners who have served at least 3 years at a grass roots level working to improve outcomes for boys and men of color.

For its core training, the PLI BMOC Academy will select up to 15 exemplary practitioners from across Baltimore city who are social impact and human service professionals in varying areas of grassroots engagement. The cohort gathers for 14 intense in-person trainings and virtual learning sessions throughout their eight-month learning experience and personalized mentoring sessions.

Academy fellows are exposed to content experts, philanthropists, policymakers and other key stakeholders, and provided with knowledge and tools to improve their leadership skills and capacity.
